Social Network: The new business frontier.

Only two decades ago, e-mail was a foreign term that meant very little to anyone… while the internet was a concept with little to no relevance in anyone’s life.
We have come a long way since the early 90’s. The world in which we live and work today is infiltrated at every level with technological aids. The social network has developed to such an extent that it has given organizations, there customers and employees an interdependency on the technological links it provides.

The intranet is a system based on the same technology as the World Wide Web. The key difference is that it is an internal system, allowing organizations to share work and work collectively on projects regardless of their geographical location. This development, as with most technology, has opened the door to vast development and allowed “collective think” to progress greatly.

As Darwin described it, each succeeding technology “liberates humanity just that much more” (Marshall, p.29). The extranet has been a continuation of the intranet that has granted an organization great freedom in interacting efficiently with their clients and business partners. Its development has aided in the progression of efficiency and cost effective means of communication.

In modern society, the internet is not only used in our everyday private lives, its capabilities have extended to such a large extent that business operation and organizations depend on it. The question is, with these vast networks and the benefits gained from new technology – who is being left out of this ever growing community?

Techonolgy has changed and shaped society in so many ways. We form part of the information technology generation, imagine the children born now days, they wont even knoew what it is to converse face-to-face with another human being, all they will know is email, chatrooms, and virtual realtiy.. We have really come along way in life, but is it such a good thing?? We now have no privacy and we are able to create false identities, and this i feel could lead to a very destructive society.

Social networks really have changed the way in which people communicate. Obviously the most common social network is facebook which I have found to be really awesome. I have been able to type in a friends name that i knew from preschool and instantly be in contact with her. A great way to find long lost friends. I have also been told of a new business network where different businesses are kept informed of other businesses and one is able to make useful business contacts. Much like facebook but geared less socially and more 'businessy'. This goes to show how everybody is now geared towards these ways of communicating through social network spheres!

The internet is changing the way we live, literally. It's endless capablities have indeed stretched our imaginations as to how far can we take this. if we don't keep up with the time we will be left behind and society won't be looking back. it has to be our responsibility to keep up with the times and make sure we know what's going on because, if we like it or not, the world, with the internet, is evolving at a rapid rate and is not holding back for anyone...

It really is hard to imagine people and organisations not having e-mail addresses. Social networks on the web are growing and thus changing the way society interacts.
